I’ve been searching for a set of oem alloys to replace the steelies on my VW. I will need new tires sooner than later, and have hoped to find some decent stock takeoffs with some meat left on the bone. So far, not much luck.

Now I’ve come across a set of steel wheels complete with wheel covers and BRAND new tires at a very good price. We’re talking less than I could get the tires alone for obviously. The reasonable voice in my head is screaming at me to buy these, but the fun voice tells me to hold out for some alloys.

Would you cheap out and take the deal, or keep hunting for those gti takeoffs which I know will pop up the second I bolt these on?

Get the steelies and then you’ll have more time to find alloys before you have to get new tires again.

If yours has the VW Group standard of 5x112, then get some Veyron wheels. They should be cheap, right?

Found some sweet Bentley 5x112s for only 2k! Might look a bit silly on my rabbit.

I think the term “baller” is what you’re looking for.

Buy steelies, then build one set of widened steelies out of both sets..

There is literally no downside to buying the steelies with tires. Even if you just take the tires and toss the steelies, you're still ahead of the game.

If the new tires fit the wheels you want (and don’t suck) buy the wheels. If they don’t fit, do you have a good amount of liquid cash, because reselling steelies even with decent tires is generally a pain (no one wants them hence their low price)

What cash isn’t liquid? Kidding, you make a good point, I have no delusions of selling my steelies.
